Lying 6 km from the center of Faro and close to Faro Airport is Faro island a popular holiday destination for many locals.
The island is only accessible via a narrow bridge which summer makes access very difficult. However, the sandy beaches on the south side of the island face the sea and offer safe bathing for families.
